23 Random Things About Me:

  1. My grandma gave me a cup of mango tea when I was a kid. Boom. That was it. Tea drinker.
  2. I like symmetry and odd numbers. I don’t know what that means about me, if anything, from a psychological standpoint.
  3. Astrology is not something I believe in; however, I can tell you that my sun sign is is Gemini and my moon sign is in Scorpio, and apparently, that means my emotions are very intense (which is true, but I don’t think that’s because of the way the sky looked when I was born).
  4. The only word I can come up with to describe my ideal sweater is “schlumpy.”
  5. Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent is my favorite book ever, and I recommend it to pretty much everyone. Results have been mixed; one friend loved it so much she got copies for her mom and both of her sisters for Christmas, but my aunt hated it.
  6. I have not been courageous enough to watch the Lifetime adaptation of The Red Tent. Even if Inara from Firefly and Jorah from Game of Thrones are in it.
  7. My mother’s nicknames for me all derive from the root punk-. I have responded to
“Punk,” “Punky,” “Punkin,” etc. But only because that’s my mom, yo. Don’t call me Punk, etc.
  8. I don’t think I am hardcore about anything, really. Some people can do hardcore, but I am not one of them.
  9. The best fish and chips I ever had was at a pub in London on The Strand, right across from St Clement Danes church. The pub’s name was The George. The second best fish and chips I’ve ever had was from my work, but I am pretty sure it is supplied to us from Sysco.
  10. When I travel somewhere new, I like to go to the zoo and to a cemetery. I really like zoos and I really like cemeteries. (If you need directions to find the “I TOLD YOU I WAS SICK” headstone in the Key West Cemetery, I’m the person to ask!!!)

    It exists. Pics. It happened.

  11. In 2012, I saw the Mayan ruins at Tulum. This is only interesting because that’s the year the Mayan calendar ended. (I learned the significance of the Mayan calendar’s end while I was there)
  12. Museums make me happy. Food also makes me happy. Another thing that makes me happy is people’s homes that they’ve converted into museums and I can see the dining room and kitchen.
  13. I love rivers.
  14. My Girl Scout cookie of choice is the Tagalong, but I do very much like Samoas and Thin Mints, too. Also, cookies aside, Girl Scouts are freaking amazing.
  15. I throw together a mean care package.
  16. The only thing I hate more than men telling me to “smile, sweetheart,” are drunk men telling me to “smile, sweetheart.”
  17. My favorite day of the year is the day after St. Patrick’s Day. I am not a fan of St. Patrick’s Day. At all.
  18. I talk about fanfiction on Twitter. More often than I should probably admit.
  19. My spirit animal is probably a bear, even though I never want to meet one face-to-face. I love bears! They are my favorite land animal. My favorite marine animal is the manatee. I love manatees!
  20. My favorite place to eat in Nashville, Tennessee, is a place on Franklin Pike called Sylvan Park Restaurant. The best dirty chai I had in Nashville was at The Well Coffeehouse, whose location I don’t remember, just that it was in a neighborhood that was apparently very conservative.
  21. I like my eggs scrambled with catsup in the morning. Or cooked with spinach and lots of onion, and sometimes mushrooms, and thrown on piece of wheat lawash.
  22. For some reason I cannot really explain, I knew the words to the Canadian national anthem before I knew my own country’s. I have memories of being 3 or 4 and singing “O, Canada.”
  23. I picked 23 because I like prime numbers, too.
